Labeled Italy’s “Golden Boy”, Gianni Rivera is considered one of the greatest Italian footballers ever and ranked #19 in the IFFHS’ Greatest Players of the 20th Century poll. The forward and attacking midfielder appeared in 60 matches for the Azzurri from 1962-74, playing in four World Cups and scoring 14 goals, including the game-winner in Italy's 4–3 extra-time win over West Germany in the 1970 World Cup Semifinal. He was also a member of Italy’s first Euro Cup championship team in 1968. While his national team career was highly decorated, Rivera’s club career with AC Milan earned him legendary status. In a 19-year career (1960-79) with the Rossoneri, he scored 164 goals in 658 matches and won three Serie A titles and two European Cups (UEFA Champions League).
This fantastic Gianni Rivera AC Milan match worn jersey dates to 1968-70, the era when Rivera won the 1969 Ballon d’Or award as the world’s best player. Essentially a short-sleeved sweater, it comes in creamy-white with a V-neck collar and sleeve-ends trimmed in red and black team colors. The number “10” that Rivera wore most of this football career for club and country is sewn on the back in black. Manufacturer tagging from Milan-based Vitore Gianni is present on the rear inner tail. but the club’s kit history suggests it was an in-house maker. The wool-like fabric shows ample wear in the form of fabric pilling and fraying to the back numbers. Includes letter of authenticity from MEARS.
