Offered here is a Super Bowl I ticketstub from the very first Super Bowl featuring the Green Bay Packers andKansas City Chiefs from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on January 15 1967.In June of 1966 the NFL and AFL announced a merger resulting initially inthe creation of a title game between the two league champions at the endof the '66 season. The Packers launched the Super Bowl series bywhipping the AFL champion Kansas City Chiefs 35-10 behind the passingof Bart Starr the receiving of Max McGee and a key interception byAll-Pro safety Willie Wood. Vince Lombardi's repeating NFL championsbroke open the game with three second-half touchdowns. Starr completed16 of 23 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns and was chosen as thegame's Most Valuable Player. The Packers collected $15000 per playerand the Chiefs $7500 apiece--the largest single-game shares in thehistory of team sports at the time.
This stub is graded by PSA EX-MT 6 making it the second highest rated stub known to exist. Only one inaugural stub is graded higher according to PSA's pop report and this is the only EX-MT 6 example. Slightly rounded corners and a somewhat off-center back are really the only blemishes to speak of. Bold print strong colors and even perforation on the bottom give it a very attractive appearance.
