1967 Super Bowl I Green Bay Packers team signed football originally given to Packer running back and punter Donny Anderson. Anderson was the Packer's #1 pick in the 1965 NFL draft and went on to play with them for the next 6 years from 1966 through 1971 before finishing up the last 3 years of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals. The world-renowned Green Bay Packers were the winners of the first two Super Bowls including the very first AFL-NFL Championship Game that was played prior to the actual coining of the name "Super Bowl" which came along three years later. On January 15 1967 playing before a crowd of 61946 screaming fans at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum the NFL Champion Packers led by head coach Vince Lombardi blasted the AFL Champion Kansas City Chiefs 35-10. The 1966 Packers were a force to be reckoned with as AFL-NFL Championship Game MVP Bart Starr led Green Bay to victory that day.
The official Pete Rozelle NFL Wilson leather "THE DUKE" football is printed with the words: "GREEN BAY PACKERS WORLD CHAMPIONS 1965". Yes the 1966-67 World Champion team signed a 1965 football - likely one that was left with the equipment manager from a year earlier. The ball has been signed in mostly 7-9/10 looking dark black ink by 45 different team members from the 1966 squad who won the very first Super Bowl Game.
