The 1967 AFL Championship game pitted the 13-1 Western Division Champion Oakland Raiders against the 9-4-1 Eastern Division Champion Houston Oilers. The game was played on Dec. 31st at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum in 47-degree weather. The Silver-and-Black Attack was led by newly arrived QB Daryle Lamonica who threw an AFL-leading 30 touchdown passes during the season while Houston's ground game was spearheaded by second-year fullback Hoyle Granger. What was supposed to be a tight contest turned out to be a lopsided 40-7 decision for the Raiders as they shredded the Oilers for 364 yards of offense (263 rushing) and allowed just 38 yards on the ground. Lamonica completed 10 passes for 111 yards and two touchdown passes while also rushing for 22 yards and another TD. Oakland's mainstay kicker George Blanda set an AFL Championship record with four field goals on six attempts. This lot features a 1967 Oakland Raiders 14K white gold ring (size 10) that was issued to team ownership partner R. Braddock. The magnificently preserved ring was manufactured by John Roberts Jr. and boasts one round brilliant cut diamond set in a square 14K white gold center setting. The setting is flush set in a cushion cur black onyx gem stone which is bezel set in the top of the mounting. Embossed on the front of the ring is"OAKLAND RAIDERS AFL CHAMPIONS." One shank is embossed with the Raiders emblem and "R. BRADDOCK - PARTNER - RAIDERS - POISE 67." The other shank is embossed "OAKLAND 40 RAIDERS - HOUSTON 7 OILERS" along with the AFL logo and "AFL - NFL - PRIDE 19." The interior band is engraved with "John Roberts JR 14K." An incredibly prized relic that propelled the team to its first Super Bowl appearance.Includes LOA from previous owner who bought it directly from Braddock's son.
