Rare 1966 Detroit Tigers road flannel jersey game-worn by 3-time All-Star 2nd baseman Dick McAuliffe. The left-handed hitting McAuliffe hit .274 with 23 HR and 56 RBI in 124 games for the 1966 Detroit Tigers earning his 2nd trip to the Summer Classic. He spent 14 seasons in Detroit and was a very important player with his plate discipline solid pop in the lineup and ability to play SS and 3B when needed. In the 1968 World Series McAuliffe played all 7 games at 2B and tallied 6 hits 5 runs and 3 RBIs with a home run to help the Tigers beat the Cardinals.

The classic flannel jersey features a dark blue "Detroit" sewn across chest of the gray jersey with McAuliffe's number "3" sewn on the right shoulder and on back in the same dark blue. MacGregor size 40 tag sewn in back of collar. Washing instructions and "MacGregor SET 2 1966" tags sewn inside front tail. Totally original jersey exhibits outstanding evidence of game-use with a combination of sweat and dirt staining around the collar armpits and mid-sections front and back. Zero signs of moth damage to the fabric. Very well-preserved and presents beautifully for the refined jersey collector!

Bruce Tennen grew up in Detroit and has been a loyal Tigers fan for over 50 years. He began attending games at Tiger Stadium in the early 1960s with his father and grandfather longtime season ticket holders and would typically don the full uniform (pictured with his dad and sister in 1968 Tigers yearbook taking photo of pitcher Pat Dobson). Bruce has attended every Tigers home playoff series since 1968 and has been fortunate enough to build relationships with dozens of players. His passion for Tigers baseball and sports eventually lead him to pursue a career in the industry covering Arizona sports teams for the AP in the late 70s and working in the front office for the San Diego Clippers in the early 80s while moonlighting as a law student. He would later move on to a successful career in mortgage banking arranging credit and acquisition funding for numerous Pistons players executives and broadcasters. There may not be a bigger supporter of Detroit sports teams than Bruce Tennen.
