The 1965 Topps Football set is one of the hobby's most revered collectables for its vast array of tough short prints (SP) and numerous Hall of Fame rookies including Fred Biletnikoff Ben Davidson and of course Joe Namath. This 1965 Topps Football complete set (176) has been entirely graded by PSA and is currently the #9 ranked complete set on the PSA Registry (#16 overall) with a weighted GPA of 6.63. Both checklists #87 (PSA NM 7) (ST) and #176 (PSA NM-MT 8) are included in high grade and the coveted #122 Joe Namath rookie has been graded a PSA NM 7--although that is quite conservative in our opinion. Centered almost perfectly with sharper corners that typical NM ratings would display the Namath could easily be slabbed NM+ 7.5 or NM-MT 8. That makes a significant difference when you consider the accelerating appreciation of this card. In 2016 a NM-MT 8 example sold for over $60000 and a NM 7 went for just under $9000. The market is on fire for Namath's rookie and this set in general making it anyone's guess what this top 10 ranked complete set will bring. Graded breakdown is:
