In 1965 the Pittsburgh Pirates managed by Harry Walker finished the season with a record of 90-72 but found themselves seven games behind the National League Champion Los Angeles Dodgers and two games behind the N.L. runners-up the San Francisco Giants. Led by the steady bats of Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente (.329 10 home runs 65 RBI) and Donn Clendenon (.301 14 home runs 96 RBI) the Pirates turned in an impressive season. This lot features a 1965 Pittsburgh Pirates team-signed official American League (Cronin) baseball. The baseball which remains in great shape boasts 26 signatures from that year’s squad including Manager Walker across the sweet spot. Other notable signatures include Andre Rodgers Ozzie Virgil and a pair of Hall of Famers Clemente and Willie Stargell. Though the signatures have all faded over time each one remains legible.
