Talk about having to wait a lifetime; it took 55 years of service to the franchise starting with his minor league appearances through his major league days and another four decades behind a microphone to offer his broadcasting talents before being properly inducted into the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame in August of 2014. Although Shannon is well known for his broadcasting of Cards games, he is also a legend in his own right as the player who hit the final homer out of Busch Stadium and also hit the first bomb in the new venue.

Shannon also had some World Series success during his career, including a historic home run that he belted during the 1964 fall classic. The same year in which Shannon blasted that two-run dinger off of Whitey ford to tie the score up during game one, he also sported this grey flannel.  It's likely that this jersey was worn in at least one of the three Yankee stadium games and solid wear suggests a full season of use may have been applied. The classic birds and bat logo fly across the chest while number "18" is applied to front and reverse in red and navey felt. The lower left front tail is tagged "Rawlings size 44" and embroidered "Shannon 64" is also present.  A 9-10/10 black sharpie autograph appears at the lower left tail as well. The signature was acquired  at a public signing as depicted in the photograph that accompanies the flannel. The jersey is 100% original and unaltered with no condistion issues to make note of. A JSA COA also accompanies this lot for the autograph.
