Presented here is Mickey Mantle’s game used Hillerich & Bradsby bat from the 1964 All-Star Game held July 7th at Shea Stadium in Queens, NY. The ‘64 Mid-Summer Classic was significant due to New York also hosting the World's Fair during that time. Along with World Series bats, All-Star bats are heavily coveted by collectors since each piece of lumber is specifically ordered for the event and can be dated not only to the year, but right down to the game – or even the plate appearance in some cases. The Mick started in center field and batted third for the American League. He singled and scored, grounded out and struck out twice in a 7-4 loss to the National League. 1964 was the 17th of 20 All-Star nods for Mantle and marked the last time he started for the AL. He would only make two more All-Star appearances (1967 & ’68), giving this bat even more importance as a museum-worthy relic from the Yankee legend’s storied career.

The Louisville Slugger M110 professional model bat is uncracked, measuring 35” inches in length and weighing a tad over 32 ounces. “1964 ALL STAR GAME” and “NEW YORK” are branded on the barrel with Mantle’s facsimile insignia in between. Bat expert John Taube of PSA/DNA states that the ash bat exhibits a moderate amount of use, with a chip on the knob that has been repaired. Several ball marks are visible on the right, left, and back barrel. The “M110” model number is stamped on the knob-end. H&B factory records show that Mantle ordered two models (M110 and K90) for use at the ’64 ASG and both were shipped on July 1st. The Commerce Comet finished the ’64 regular season with 35 homers, 111 RBI and a .303 average (leading the league in OBP and OPS), making it his last truly great campaign before the body started to break down. Comes with full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA with a nearly perfect GU 9 grade.
