This program is from February 7, 1964 in Los Angeles. The Pistons would beat the Lakers 111-103 with Bailey Howell (30) and Ray Scott (26) leading the way for the Pistons. Elgin Baylor would put in 40 points that night in a losing effort.
Signed throughout the program with 40 autographs. Note – there are 2 autographs of the Harlem Globetrotters who were at the game that night and several members of the Rams which we believe are in there because they were either playing an off-season exhibition game (prior to the game) or they were just hanging out as a team for the game. There are only a few autographs that we could not identify. The absence of Jerry West’s signature makes total sense as he was out hurt and most likely wasn’t even at the game.
Autographs include:
Detroit Pistons
Reggie Harding (D. 1972 at the age of 30 when he was shot and killed). Google this name as Harding had one of the more interesting off-the-court life stories of NBA and ABA players of his era. His autograph is exceedingly rare and he signed the program NOT ONCE, but TWICE (two Harding autographs in this program)
Jackie Moreland (D. 1971 at the age of 33) He would play for the Pistons and the New Orleans Buccaneers in the ABA after being the 4th overall pick in the 1960 draft behind only, Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, and Jerry West. He died tragically of cancer. His autograph is exceedingly rare and he signed the program NOT ONCE, but TWICE (two Jackie Moreland autographs in this program)
Additional Pistons autographs: Bob Ferry, Eddie Miles, Ray Scott, Bob Duffy, Charley Wolf (head coach of the Pistons), Bailey Howell, Don Ohl, and Willie Jones
Los Angeles Lakers
Jim Krebs (D. 1965 at the age of 29) tragically died in a tree cutting accident.
John Ramsey (D. 1990) super rare autograph of the Lakers Public Address announcer as well as the California Angels, L.A. Dodgers, L.A. Kings, and L.A. Raiders. He was also the P.A. voice for the L.A. Rams and USC Trojans football and basketball teams.
Additional Laker autographs - Fred Schaus (D. 2010) head coach of the Lakers, Hub Reed, Don Nelson, Darrall Imhoff (D. 2017), Rudy LaRusso (D. 2004), Frank Selvy, Elgin Baylor, Jim King, LeRoy Ellis (d), and Gene Wiley
L.A. Rams
David (Deacon) Jones (he actually signed his name David which is super rare), Lamar Lundy (twice), Jim (Red) Phillips, Jack Pardee, Dick Bass, Eddie Meador, Art Hunter, Carver Shannon, Marlin McKeever, Joe Scibelli (D.1991),
Additional Miscellaneous Autograph Highlights:
Marques Haynes (D.)(Globetrotters and Basketball HOF), Josh Grider (Harlem Globetrotters)(deceased)
