This Hillerich & Bradsby professional model bat, stamped with the "A99" model designation, was used by Hank Aaron during the 1964 season while patrolling the outfield for the Milwaukee Braves, a period squarely within the heart of Aaron's remarkable march toward becoming baseball's all-time home run king.
PSA/DNA has graded the bat GU 8.5, reflecting strong physical evidence of genuine game use, including appropriate handle wear from Aaron's grip and barrel contact marks consistent with extended use at the plate. Aaron's bats from the mid-1960s are consistently among the most sought-after game-used artifacts in the entire hobby, as they represent tangible pieces of the sustained excellence that eventually carried him past Babe Ruth's once-unassailable career home run record.
The A99 model was among the documented ordering specifications Aaron used with Hillerich & Bradsby during this stretch of his career, and the bat displays the natural ash finish and grain pattern typical of the company's professional model bats produced during this era. With a playing career that spanned 23 seasons and produced 755 home runs, genuine, well-documented Aaron game-used bats from his prime Milwaukee years continue to command intense demand from advanced collectors, and examples graded in the GU 8.5 range by PSA/DNA represent some of the finest surviving specimens available on the market. This bat offers a serious collector a meaningful piece of the Hammer's historic career.
