Name the first quarterback to start in the Super Bowl for two different teams? Peyton Manning and Kurt Warner hold this unique distinction but they were not the first. That belongs to Craig Morton who is also the only one of the trio to lead each team to that franchise's first ever Super Bowl appearance. Morton led the 1970 Dallas Cowboys and 1977 Denver Broncos to Super Bowls V and XII. He came up short both times but his Cowboys certainly gave the Baltimore Colts a scare in Super Bowl V as they lost on a last second field goal 16-13.

Offered here is Morton's 1964 College All-Star game worn jersey a vintage long-sleeve blue sweater with incredible wear. At that time Morton was a star quarterback for the California Golden Bears heading into his senior All-America season. This preseason All-Star contest pitting the nation's top college players against the Chicago Bears was played on August 7 1964 at Soldier Field. The professionals won 28-17. Morton's No. 14 is sewn on front and back in white tackle twill. Red and white stars are screened-on both shoulders. The proper "Spanjian" manufacturer's tagging in '"Size 48"tag is found at the left shirttail. The sweater has several dark stains throughout many of which resemble blood. They are mostly sweat and soiling. Amazingly there are no rips or holes in the fabric only some fraying inside the right sleeve.

Craig Morton was drafted #5 overall in 1965 and played 18 seasons in the NFL (1965-82) for the Cowboys NY Giants and Denver Broncos playing in the two aforementioned Super Bowls. This jersey was originally procured by his old Cowboys teammate wide receiver Peter Gent with whom Morton also roomed together in the late 60's. The consignor who grew up with Gent in Bangor Michigan acquired it shortly after Gent's death in 2011.

Includes LOA from consignor a longtime friend of the late Peter Gent who played with Morton in Dallas and also roomed with him.
