The 1962 National League home run race sure had its share of legendary names gunning for the crown. Once all was said and done, the Giants' Willie Mays led the way with 49 bombs, followed by the Braves' Hank Aaron (45), Cincinnati's Frank Robinson (39), the Cubs' Ernie Banks (37), and finally, SF's other slugger, Orlando Cepeda (35).
Incredibly, all five have autographed this 1963 Topps #3 NL Home Run Leaders card in bold blue marker that pops wonderfully atop the colorful card surface, amplified by nice penmanship from the future Hall of Famers. A scarce opportunity for an autographed vintage card, let alone an example with five HOF signatures.
The card has been given an EX-MT 6 grade from PSA with a near-perfect MINT 9 grade average for the five autographs. Only one of 17 dual-graded example in PSA's Population Report has achieved a higher card grade. This NM 7 copy has yet to surface, so we have no way of knowing if it is signed by all five players pictured. (Only one signature is necessary to technically be eligible.) The most relevant full-signed copy to surface was a PSA VG-EX 4 and PSA/DNA 9 that sold for $14,400 in December 2024.
