Outfielder-turned-first-baseman Frank Howard played 16 years in the majors but only made it to one World Series: 1963. That season Howard played in 123 games for the National League Champion Los Angeles Dodgers and contributed greatly to their drive to the pennant by hitting 28 home runs and driving in 64 runs. In the World Series vs. the New York Yankees Howard batted .300 to help the Dodgers beat the Yankees in four straight games. Presented here is the 14K gold ring awarded to Howard for being part of the Dodgers' third World Championship team. A round brilliant-cut diamond (.85 carat) commands the face set in a blue stone and ringed by the words "Los Angeles Dodgers World Champions." Left shank features ball and bats imagery with Howard's name engraved on the sweet spot. Right shank celebrates the sweep with "4 Straight" terminology the Dodgers logo and the year "1963." The white gold beauty is stamped "Balfour 14K" on the interior band which measures to size 10. Fine undamaged condition and comes complete with original Balfour presentation box. A wonderful memento from those thrilling Dodgers vs. Yankees Fall Classics.
An accompanying appraisal letter issued on 12/2/1998 states an appraised value for this ring at $15000. LOA from previous owner also included.
