Longtime MLB Manager Leo “The Lip” Durocher managed a total of 24 seasons in the major leagues and wound up skippering his four teams (Dodgers Giants Cubs and Astros) to more than 2000 victories. After leaving the then-New York Giants following the 1955 season Durocher worked at NBC where he was a color commentator on the Major League Baseball on NBC airings. He later served as a coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1961 to 1964.

This lot features Durocher’s 1962 Los Angeles Dodgers game-worn coach’s road jersey. The impeccably preserved gray flannel which shows moderate game use features "Los Angeles" in two-and-a-half-inch-tall blue felt lettering across the front. Durocher’s uniform number “2” is positioned on the left front breast area in five-inch-tall red felt as well as on the back in blue felt that stretches seven inches tall. A noticeable team repair is evident to the right of his jersey number on the reverse. Proper "Tim McAuliffe" manufacturer's tagging out of Boston Mass exists on the left front tail positioned right above two separate sewn-on tags reading “’62” and “42” to reflect the season and jersey size respectively. A sewn-on white cloth nameplate with “Durocher” spelled out in blue chain-stitched script is also on the left front tail. Both arm pit areas sport four manufactured air holes and all seven original buttons still exist on the front of the jersey. A classic old-fashioned flannel gamer that was worn by one of Major league Baseball’s most colorful and controversial characters in history.

Part of the esteemed Delbert Mickel estate collection.
