Charlie Neal was a journeyman infielder who earned a Gold Glove in 1959 and who played eight major league seasons including the New York Mets inaugural 1962 campaign. Platooning between second base (85 games) shortstop (39) and third base (12) Neal batted .262 that season for the first-year club with 11 home runs and 58 runs batted in.

The 1962 Mets road grey flannel presented here was game worn by Neal. "New York" arches across the chest in an Old English style reminiscent of the old New York Giants aesthetic with number "4" applied to verso in the same blue and orange felt. The newly designed and still unchanged team logo patch is applied to left sleeve. Embroidered grey felt swatch affixed at interior collar supplies the jersey number and delectable vintage: "4-1962." Lower left exterior tail provides proper "Wilson [size] 40" label. Solid wear is evident throughout with a small unrepaired hole on back. Some color transfer on the front from the orange lettering to the grey flannel is apparent upon close inspection but is not distracting. All of the jersey's original seven buttons remain intact. This jersey represents a thrilling piece of game-worn memorabilia not just for the devout Mets fan but for true baseball enthusiasts everywhere.

Includes LOA from Andrew Fogel a renowned Mets collector whose items are displayed in several museums.
