When the Three Lions won their first and only FIFA World Cup in 1966, the star of the team was the great Bobby Charlton. The Manchester United standout went on to take Ballon d'Or honors at the end of that year, followed by two runner-up finishes in 1967 and ‘68 as the world’s best footballer. Possessing the perfect blend of speed and fitness to play as a versatile midfielder, left winger and striker, his relentless pursuit, deft passing ability, and thunderous blasts from distance made him one of greatest attackers of all time.
From 1958 to 1970, Charlton notched 49 goals in 106 caps for England. In 17 seasons at Man U (1956-73), he scored 249 in 758 matches. And he did it with class, receiving just two yellow cards for club and country over two decades. One of just a few Englishmen knighted for his athletic heroics, "Sir Bobby" remains one of nine players to have won the World Cup, European Cup and the Ballon d'Or.
With that introduction comes this 1962-64 era Bobby Charlton match-worn and autographed jersey from his prime years on the pitch. The road model shirt is constructed of vibrant red cotton with cuffed short sleeves and a V-neck collar. The front bears the embroidered Three Lions crest of the period. The back features "11" – his 1962 World Cup number – in white oversized block numerals. Properly tagged by manufacturer Bukta, the British apparel brand's “Dyfast Zeebux” label used for special sportswear is sewn within the collar. The shirt exhibits moderate wear and remains exceptionally well-preserved for ideal display. Sir Bobby’s signature in black pen on first back numeral adds even more value to this museum-worthy piece of football history.
Authentication & Provenance
Letters of Authenticity from MEARS for the jersey and PSA/DNA for the autograph.
