This 1961 Topps #388 Roberto Clemente has been graded PSA NM-MT 8, placing it firmly in the upper tier of surviving examples of this early-1960s issue. The 1961 Topps design's solid color borders and close-up portrait photography make centering and edge wear especially visible, and PSA grades this issue with close attention to both factors. An NM-MT 8 grade indicates a card with excellent original gloss, sharp corners with only minimal softness, and strong centering within tolerances, free from any creasing, surface scuffing, or noticeable print defects. As an earlier Clemente issue predating his three batting titles of the mid-1960s, this card captures him near the midpoint of his Hall of Fame career, and the NM-MT 8 grade reflects a clean, well-preserved example suitable for both vintage and player-specific collections.
