Two of the greatest stars in the National League between the two world wars inked attractive signatures to this nice condition hardcover copy of the "World Series Encyclopedia." Gabby Hartnett planted a 9/10 blue ballpoint signature on the outside cover page noting an inscription "To Eddie Starr - A real fellow - Here's hoping you ambitions in life will be realized. My Best to you" and signed with his "Leo 'Gabby' Harnett." A 32-page plate section of iconic black-and-white photographs includes a well-known picture of Rogers Hornsby shaking hands with Babe Ruth at the 1926 World Series. Hornsby has signed 8/10 in blue ballpoint on this page adding inscription "To Eddie Starr" and adding the date 1961 which is also the publishing date for the book. The Ex-Mt condition book was an important volume at the time graced with a dozen or more of the wonder caricatures produced by the legendary Willard Mullin all interspersed through the first 60 pages of the book with the remaining 240 or so pages part of a vast compilation of individual batting and pitching records from each World Series up to 1960.
