Sportsman's Park also known as Busch Stadium from 1953-1966 was one of baseball's most storied ballparks of yesteryear home to both the St. Louis Browns (1909-1953) and the St. Louis Cardinals (1920-1966). Over that period of time the Stadium played host to three All-Star Games and ten World Series including the historic all-St. Louis "Fall Classic" in 1946. Sportsman's Park was home to a litany of baseball greats including Hornsby Sisler Musial Mize and of course the legendary Bob Gibson.

The offered Sportsmans Park relic preserved upon its demolition in 1966 is the original sign that hung atop Bob Gibsons locker. The 15 inch long plastic identifier reads 45 GIBSON in red stenciled characters. 1960s Sportsmans Park locker room photographs including the Ozzie Sweet image presented in this listing show player locker signs matching this type. The sign shows some holes at each end and general wear but retains great visual quality that will make for an uncommon enhancement to any collection display.
