Wonderful mementos from a Pittsburgh Pirates fan from that most glorious autumn in 1960 when the ball club upended a heavily favored Yankees behemoth in a seven-game Fall Classic that ended like no other. The lot includes a fine condition newspaper supplement "Salute to the Pirates" from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Oct. 4 1960 the day before the Series opened. The 15-by-30-inch supplement is in Excellent condition revealing only the slightest wear that you might expect from having been folded for a half century plus only the occasional small tears that would surface for the same reason. There's also a kid's size circa 1960 souvenir cap in seemingly as-issued condition an entirely intact Micky Mantle Pin Ball and Bat charm and a Nr-Mt version of the famous Hillerich & Bradsby pencil bats that were so ubiquitous in team souvenir stands in postwar MLB this one commemorating the 1960 World Series on the barrel. Mantle had three homers in that Series the Yankees outscored the Pirates 55-27 but we all know who got the last laugh. (Hint: it wasn't Casey.)
