This lively photo captures Vince Lombardi as he packs his suitcase to begin his career as the head coach and general manager of the Green Bay Packers. Lombardi flashes his soon to be famous gap-toothed grin as he prepares for the job that would make him a Hall of Famer. The 7x9" photo shows nice toning throughout. The edges are clean, and the corners are only slightly rounded. There are some surface scuffs and dings, but nothing that takes away from the historical value of what is possibly the earliest photo of Lombardi after being named the Packers head coach and GM. The back of the photo has the original caption slug with the United Press International and “JAN 1959” date stamps. The photo has been authenticated and encapsulated Type I by PSA/DNA.
