It didn't take the Los Angeles Dodgers long to win the team's first World Series title in Southern California. In just the second season after departing Brooklyn, the Dodgers won the World Series title by defeating the American League Champion Chicago White Sox four games to two. The Dodgers had just won their first pennant since moving from Brooklyn in 1958 by defeating the Milwaukee Braves two games to none in a best-of-three-games pennant playoff. The Fall Classic win was the Dodgers' second World Series championship in five years, their first in Los Angeles, and marked the first championship for a West Coast team. It was also the first-ever World Series in which no pitcher for either team pitched a complete game. Despite a rotation that featured Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, and 1955 World Series hero Johnny Podres, it was Larry Sherry who claimed two of the four victories for L.A. en route to the title, earning the MVP Award for his clutch performance.

This lot features a 1959 Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Championship 14K White Gold ring that was presented to Bert Wells, who was one of the Dodgers scouting directors for 40 years. The beautifully designed size 10 ring weighs 33.3 grams. The face boasts a large diamond on top of a larger blue stone surrounded by raised text announcing "LOS ANGELES WORLD CHAMPIONS." One shank sports crossed bats and baseball imagery with the latter engraved with Wells' facsimile signature. The other shank announces the season "1959" with imagery of the Los Angeles City Hall building and the Dodgers logo. The condition of the ring is near mint.
