In 1951, Mickey Mantle was anointed as the heir apparent to the retiring Joe DiMaggio and quickly became the New York Yankees star attraction over the next two decades. A lifetime .298 hitter, Mantle was also a switch-hitter who launched 536 round-trippers during his 18 seasons in pinstripes. More importantly, "The Mick" helped the Bronx Bombers win 12 AL pennants and seven World Series titles during his Hall of Fame career. Offered is a 1959 Bazooka card that shows Mantle striking a batting pose with the fabled Yankee Stadium facade serving as the background. The blank-back card was hand-cut directly from Bazooka Gum packaging and shows uneven borders and worn edges. Assessed AUTHENTIC by PSA.
