Presented here is a wonderful piece of Philadelphia basketball history: a vintage basketball signed by all 11 players on the 1959-60 Philadelphia Warriors, headlined by rookie Wilt Chamberlain in his historic first NBA season when he averaged an astonishing 37.6 points and 27.0 rebounds per game. The Sixers finished second in the East with a 49-26 record and made it to the finals of the East playoffs where they fell to the eventual NBA champion Boston Celtics.
The autographs are all done in legible black ballpoint ink, including Naismith Hall of Famers Chamberlain, Paul Arizin, Guy Rodgers and Tom Gola, as well as Ernie Beck, Joe Graboski, Vern Hatton, Andy Johnson, Joe Ruklick, Woody Sauldsberry and Guy Sparrow. The "Seamless 522 Rhino" branded leather basketball remains in excellent shape with mild aging, and the signatures remain relatively strong and well-contrasted within the panels with no smudging or significant fading
The full set of 11 autographs has been authenticated by Beckett with a full letter of authenticity, Team-signed basketballs from Chamberlain's rookie season are exceptionally rare. This is the first exemplar we've ever encountered and we could not find any comps online. A must-have for advanced basketball collectors, offering a tangible connection to the debut of the most dominant statistical force the sport has ever produced.
