With Willie Mays of the Giants, Mickey Mantle of the Yankees, and Duke Snider of the Dodgers, baseball fans in the mid-1950’s had a difficult time debating who was the best centerfielder in New York. The Duke of Flatbush made his best argument during Brooklyn's magical 1955 season when helped lead ‘Dem Bums to their only World Series title and was named Player of The Year by The Sporting News after compiling 42 homers and 136 RBI. The eight-time All-Star’s better years were behind him after the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles in ’58, but he had himself a very productive 1959 campaign, batting .308 with 23 dingers and 88 ribbies in just 370 official at-bats.

Presented here is a terrific Duke Snider Louisville Slugger game-used bat dating to 1959-60. The Hillerich & Bradsby ash bat has survived un-cracked with evidence of ball marks on the back barrel. It measures 35” and weighs 35.4 ounces with the “C117L” model number stamped on the knob. A fine example from the Silver Fox, whose Hall of Fame career came to an end in 1964. For whatever reason, Snider gamers do not surface much in the hobby. Includes full LOA from bat expert John Taube who has given it a PSA/DNA GU 7 grade.
