Billy Consolo was a Bonus Baby and a utility infielder two cheerful bits of nomenclature that got a lot of mileage in the 1950's. Consolo played for five different teams between 1953 and 1962 most notably the Boston Red Sox and Washington Senators/Minnesota Twins. Primarily used in a reserve role he enjoyed his best season with the 1957 Red Sox batting .270 in 68 games. He later served as a coach for the Detroit Tigers for 14 seasons. The wool flannel retains nice coloring in its base material and red/black felt identifiers. The seven-button front is original and the red piping on the collar and sleeves and down the front of the sheet remains outstanding. A McAuliffe label is sewn to front of the tail with Size 42 small flag tag attached and red stitched embroidery below of "58 423."The shirt displays game use and is essentially problem free revealing only the slightest separation of stitching around the "o" in Sox on the front lettering. An attractive Billy Consolo autograph appears on the front left breast above the "Sox" lettering.
