Created for a magazine or newspaper back when Wilt Chamberlain's star was on the rise this original pen-and-ink work by well-known illustrator Murray Olderman measures 11" x 16" and features the five members of the collegiate All-America team. Kansas center Wilt Chamberlain is front and center having dominated the NCAA as he would soon revolutionize the NBA. But it is interesting to note as well the presence of Ohio State forward Frank Howard who went professional on the baseball diamond instead of the hard court earning Rookie of the Year honors and four All-Star selections in a 16-year career. As for Chamberlain after leading the Jayhawks to the '57 NCAA finals the "Big Dipper" left school to play with the Harlem Globetrotters for one year then entered the NBA for the 1959-60 campaign. He created quite a storm as a rookie averaging 37.6 points per game. Also pictured on the work are future NBA players Jim Krebs Guy Rodgers and Charlie Tyra. Olderman's finely detailed artwork exhibits wonderful Near Mint quality and is matted and framed to overall size of 16" x 21". Great looking piece!
