Type 1 photos of Mickey Mantle don’t get any better than this. Sport Magazine photographer Ozzie Sweet snapped this dramatic portrait of the Mick, resplendent in his Yankees pinstripes, standing before a Yankees World Championship pennant. The image was taken in 1957, right in the middle of Mantle’s greatest years. That season, he would win his second consecutive MVP Award, bat .365, and lead the league in runs scored. The Type 1 photo has crisp detail and sharp contrast with nice white borders. The reverse has the Sport Magazine stamp with October 1957 date and various handwritten notations. The photo has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA and graded Type 1 Authentic.
