“Bus Stop” has endured as one of Marilyn Monroe’s most accomplished films. The picture came at a pivotal moment in Monroe’s career as she sought to shed her “blonde bombshell” image and be taken seriously as a dramatic actor. Filmed in 1956, “Bus Stop” was Monroe’s first film after studying at the Actors Studio in New York. This candid photo was snapped during a pause in filming as she posed with a fan visiting the set. Monroe strikes a sultry pose, dressed in her costume from the film, jutting her chin forward with an alluring smile. The Type 1 photo has some wear to the white borders, but nothing that invades upon the main image. The original negative accompanies the snapshot. The reverse of the photo has “Visitors” and “1956 Marilyn & Fan Phoenix/Bus Stop.” The photo has been encapsulated and graded a Type 1 Auth. by PSA/DNA.
