The 1956 Gum Adventure Set with their captivating portrayals of boxers and other renowned athletes along with a broad range of relatively innocuous topics constitutes an eclectic and entertaining series of collectibles. The series of 100 pastel-hued cards are particularly enjoyable in high grade as seen here. The series' "key" card #86 depicting German pugilist Max Schmeling and entitled "The Black Uhlan of the Rhine" has long been a coveted prize in hobby circles.
