Presented here is a vintage 1954 Hollywood Stars team jacket worn by minor league journeyman Leonard Lindborg. From the 1930s to the mid-50s the Pacific Coast League (AAA) was widely regarded as the “third” major league (after the AL and NL), providing a high level of play garnished by the blaze of Hollywood celebrities in the stands when the Stars or Angels hosted their games at Wrigley Field in South L.A. Ultimately, the Dodgers’ cross-country move from Brooklyn in 1957 kicked the “Twinks” out of Tinseltown, leading to the team’s move to Utah where they became the much less-heralded Salt Lake City Bees.

The red wool letterman’s style jacket has white leather sleeves with red and white ribbed material around the collar and tail. The iconic PCL club’s “H” star logo is sewn over the heart in white on blue felt. "HOLLYWOOD" is arched on the verso in the same two-color format, the white showing a bit of separation. Lindborg’s uniform number "24" is sewn in now faded blue felt near the tail on the right-hand side. The heavily worn collar is tagged by Wilson and almost completely worn beyond legibility, with a size 44 flag tag. There is a small hole next to the left pocket. The ribbing around the red cuffs is totally worn out and the red color has faded significantly from excessive wear and sun exposure. This was clearly a favorite in the player’s wardrobe for years beyond his playing days. Includes LOA from Lindborg.
