In 1954 the Cleveland Indians posted the best record inbaseball with 111 wins behind a dominant starting staff of Hall of Famers Bob Lemon Early Wynn and Bob Feller as well as Mike Garcia and Art Houtteman. Alas they were swept by the New York Giants in the Worlds Series the team of destiny that season after taking the NL pennant with the famous "Shot Heard 'Round the World". While World Series rings sure would have been nicethe team did hand out these distinctive cufflinks to players front office members and other team affiliates. The 14K gold Balfour cufflinksare in the shape of a baseball diamond with a raised relief of Chief Wahoo at center "1954" at the top and "Cleveland Indians" along the thirdand first-base lines respectively. Four red ruby stones make up the four bases on the diamond and two more rubies act as Wahoo's eyes. On the reverse is engraved:"AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS ALL-TIME RECORD 111 GAMES WON." Each weighs 10 grams and the pair comes in NM condition. 41 years would pass before the Tribe made it back to the Fall Classic.
