Produced during Mantle's third year in the Big Leagues Mantle's 1953 Topps issue has always been one of the hobby's most popular cards. Although the demand for high grade examples such as this have reached a fever pitch in recent months it is hard to imagine that the supply will ever begin to approach the demand for a 1953 Topps Mantle of this quality.
The offered example is a magnificent example highlighted by bold colors that must be seen to be believed. Also the card's centering displays notably attractive proportions with only a slightly upward lean. The sensitive red caption area at the lower left is particularly strong at the edges and only a speck of wear can be seen at the absolute tip of the corner. In fact all four corners are well-shaped and sharply pointed. Bright uninterrupted gloss and clean edges on all sides add to this card's absolutely uncirculated appearance. The reverse is solidly printed and free of stains. A very pleasing example more than worthy of its lofty NM-MT 8 designation by PSA.
