Royalty in the field of card collecting Mickey Mantle’s 1952 Topps issueis the most recognized and coveted post-war baseball card. Next to the T206 Honus Wagner its stands as the icon of the hobby. At firstglance this one displays eye appeal matching examples thatcommand six figures under today's bustling high-end card market. Under microscopic examination PSA has found an alteration that we can only guess relates to the slightest of trims either on the front (vertical) upper edge to the upper right-hand corner or on the back (horizontal) upper right edge. Otherwise the card holds all the necessary attributes of one deserving EX-MT under PSA's incredibly strict standards. Well-centered (55/45 left to right and bottom to top) with mostly clean white borders the front remains vibrant in color with spectacular eye appeal. There is just one corner (top right) with noticeable roundness. The back is nice and clean as well. Overall it presents a remarkably sharp frame of the young Yankee superstar. Regardless of its "PSA AUTHENTIC ALTERED" designation this beautiful example is sure to ignite a bidding war among the most esteemed and elite collectors.
It should be noted that in our Fall 2015 Auction we sold a PSA Authentic Altered example with similar specs for $25076. Since that time the market for this card has jumped considerably.
