Incredibly rare and hard to find 1952 Royal Desserts "Royal Stars of Basketball" set. Classified in the American Card Catalog by Burdick as F219-2 this 8-card set that was found on various boxes of Royal brand pudding gelatin and custard. 6 of the 8 cards in the set are of players who would later go into the Basketball Hall of Fame. The offered set features cards with black and red lettering with black and white images. Cards are approximately 2 5/8" x 3 ¼" in dimension and contain a short bio of the pictured player. Youngsters could also send 15 cents plus 3 Royal Dessert package fronts for an 8-page "Plastic Album". This almost never seen album in excellent condition with one break on the inside of the plastic ring spine is also included with the set. The center piece of this outstanding set is the George Mikan card one of the great vintage cards in our hobby. All cards have been graded by SGC. They are: Frank Brian (EX SGC 60) Jim Pollard(HOF) (EX SGC 60) Jack Nichols (VG-EX SGC 50) Dick McGuire(HOF) (SGC 50) and four cards graded as authentic due to cutting issues - George Mikan(HOF) Fred Schaus(HOF) Joe Fulks(HOF) and Harry Jeannette (HOF). A rare opportunity to acquire a complete set of this extremely scarce issue plus the seldom seen original album all at one time.
