Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 35 1/2" long and weighs 34.2oz. Stampings on the barrel end include special notation "World Series 1952" player name "Campanella" in block letters and team designation "Brooklyn Dodgers". The bat exhibits evident use including ball marks cleat marks rack marks and general surface wear. Model #G80 is stamped on the knob end. Roy Campanella game bats are among the scarcest HOF'er bats of his era and are highly prized by collectors in any form. World Series models are an extreme rarity with this example being the first we've encountered. This bat has never before been offered publicly and originates from the family of a gentleman whose godmother was a family friend and neighbor of the Campanella's when they lived in Hollis Queens. According to family history the bat was received from the Campanellas in the mid 1950's and reportedly hung over a bar in Campy's home. A mounting hole had been drilled in the top of the handle measuring approx. 1/2" but has been professionally repaired. The 1952 World Series was a heated seven-game affair that saw Campanella go 6 for 28 against the cross-town rival New York Yankees before the Bronx Bombers handed the Dodgers another dose of "Wait 'til next year". The bat retains outstanding display quality and is unquestionably one of the finest Campanella bats to have ever surfaced in the marketplace.
