Although Jackie Robinson's road into the Major League's was a difficult one it didn't take him long to win over the Brooklyn faithful. That fact is apparent by this interesting reply letter written in 1952 to a Mrs. L.A. Ensley of Delaware Ohio. In his one-page typed letter dated November 6 and written upon his personal stationery Robinson writes: "Dear Mrs. Ensley: My sincere thanks for your kind and thoughtful letter. I find it most gratifying and heartening to know that there are people who think and feel as you do. May the Dodgers playing continue to afford you with many pleasurable hours and my very best wishes to you. Sincerely Jackie Robinson [signed]." Robinson's signature has been penned in bold black ink grading "10". It's not surprising that Robinson's popularity continued to grow over the years especially considering the fact that the Dodgers captured six pennants and one World Championship during his ten seasons with the club. Robinson enjoyed another banner season in 1952 batting .308 with 75 RBI and 104 runs scored. The letter (7" x 10-1/2") displays two horizontal fold lines as well as two extremely tiny areas of discoloration. Together with the original mailing envelope.
