Presented here is an exceptional high-grade complete set of 1952 Bowman Football Large. Truly a classic this set is to football what the 1952 Topps set is to baseball. Notable rookie cards include Hall-of-Famers Frank Gifford Hugh McElhenny Andy Robustelli Ollie Matson and Gino Marchetti. It also features the last Bowman cards issued of all-time greats Steve Van Buren Bob Waterfield and Sammy Baugh plus coveted short prints (SP) like Norm Van Brocklin Charlie Conerly KyleRote and George Connor. The last card in the set #144 Jim Lansford was reportedly destroyed in large numbers during production thus making it one of the hobby’s most sought after football cards. Only 16 Jim Lansford’s have ever been graded higher than this set’s PSA EX-MT 6.
The assembly of this complete set is impressive given the condition issues that so often plague cards from this series which are notoriously off-center. With a current rank of #10 on the PSA Set Registry (#8 among complete sets) and a set rating and weighted GPA of 5.954 this set is not to be missed as it is rarely offered in this condition to the public. Several cards come in the highest grade given by PSA for that card. It would be a superb addition to any world-class sports card collection.
