Just two days after the Brooklyn Dodgers lost the 1951 pennant to the New York Giants, Jackie Robinson signed this remarkable government postcard. Robinson had a terrific season in 1951, batting .335 with 25 stolen bases, and it was his extra inning game winning home run on the last day of the regular season that kept the Dodgers in the pennant race with the Giants. Postmarked October 5, 1951, the Dodgers star has signed the 3 ½” x 5 ½” postcard in clear blue fountain pen. The card shows edge wear and staining with overall toning, though none affect Jackie’s signature.
