“The Duke of Flatbush” was the face of the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 1950s. Snider would power the Boys of Summer to six pennants and a World Championship. This classic batting portrait highlights his famous number 4 and the lumber he used to torture National League pitchers year after year. Famed NYC-based photographer William C. Greene took this photo during the heartbreaking 1951 season in which the Dodgers lost a three-game playoff to the rival New York Giants. For his part, Snider did his job that season, hitting 27 home runs and batting 101 runs. The Type 1 photo has a small piece missing from the lower right edge of the border, as well as some surface abrasions. The image is razor-sharp with the details of Snider’s Louisville Slugger bat crystal clear. The reverse has the William C. Greene and Sporting News credit stamps along with several handwritten notations. The photo has been encapsulated by PSA and graded a Type 1 Authentic.
