Mixed condition complete set of the very popular and highly valuable 1951 Bowman Baseball issue with most cards spread evenly from the VG to EX category some fairing better or worse. The highlight of this fabulous set is the heavily coveted Mickey Mantle #253 rookie card in PSA EX 5 with strong colors and a clean front and back. That card alone has an SMR value of $11500. The Willie Mays #305 rookie is graded PSA GD 2 ($2K+ in current market) but presents as well as Mantle with a very clean and bright front; a stain on the back accounts for the set-back. Ted Williams (PSA NM 7) and Nellie Fox (PSA EX 5) are the other PSA graded cards in this set. The consignor built this incredibly tough set from scratch breaking out many in card packs as a kid in the early 1950's and then storing them in a safety deposit box for decades as an adult.
