Warren Spahn won 20 games in a season 13 times in his career en route to 363 wins overall. Imagine what he might have done had he not lost nearly four full years to military service in World War II (at ages 21-24). Spahn was the 1957 Cy Young Award winner and was the runner-up three times all during the period when just one award was given for both leagues. His 363 wins are more than any other left-handed pitcher in history and more than any other pitcher who played his entire career in the post-1920 lively ball era. Spahn is seldom excluded in any discussion of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball history and less so when talk turns to character and popularity.

This marvelous garment is Spahns Milwaukee Braves game-worn team jacket from the 1950s. The team name "Braves" is beautifully embroidered in red script across the chest just above the tomahawk symbol. All elements of the jacket are completely original including the Wilson size 46 tag sewn in collar and Spahn's uniform number "21" tag sewn inside of front tail near the zipper. The jacket exhibits heavy game use but retains excellent eye appeal with no notable structural faults. Even the zipper still works! A photo of Spahn with Hank Aaron receiving their 1957 Cy Young and NL MVP awards respectively (shown here not included) pictures Spahn wearing a jacket similar to this one. A great piece of game-worn sports memorabilia from not only a Baseball Hall of Famer but a hero of World War II who saw action in the "Battle of the Bulge and was awarded a Purple Heart.
