Offered here is an incredible artifact from one of the most-beloved defunct franchises in MLB history the St. Louis Browns who like their counterpart the Philadelphia Athletics have a faithful following of fans even more than a half century after their ball clubs departed for more lucrative (they hoped) environs. The Browns were eyeballing the presumably friendlier confines of Baltimore in the early 1950s when this wonderful warmup jacket would have been in use. For a Bill Veeck-owned ball club that first sent a midget up to the plate to bat and later inked the Negro leagues brightest star to a contract despite his uh advanced age this warmup jacket would be a simply spectacular artifact still in superlative condition all these years later. The brown nylon has the original eight metal snaps in working order on the front with orange and white knitted elasticized trim at the waist and the distinctive Brownie Elf embroidered patch on the front. As noted before the dark-brown nylon jacket is virtually blemish-free despite its advanced age which coincidentally is even greater than Paiges alleged age in 1953 (possibly 45 years old). The knit white-and-orange waist section does reveal a couple of small tears none of which detract from the presentation and the same type off small tearing is also visible on the orange-and-white cuff section on the jacket. This is a museum-worthy treasure for a franchise long since relegated to such a fate.
