An imposing physical specimen with bulging muscles Jimmie Foxx was more than just a slugger - he twice led the AL in batting and in 1945 at the tail end of his career he pitched for the Phillies - winning a game and posting a 1.59 ERA. In his prime he challenged Babe Ruth's single-season home run record won three MVP awards and the Triple Crown. He won two World Series titles with Connie Mack's Athletics and retired as the second leading home run hitter of all-time. As most single signed baseball collectors know high-grade Foxx examples are among the most elusive of the all the 500 Home Run Club members. The presented example graded NM-MT+ 8.5 is the highest PSA/DNA graded Foxx single with one other example having received a matching 8.5 grade. Foxxs large green ink signature commands the full breadth of the sweet spot of a clean unused Official Western League baseball. The "O.M. Hobbs" presidential stamping on ball dates the orb to a three-season span of 1956-58. PSA/DNA has assigned a rating of 9/10 to the Foxx signature and 8/10 to the clean unblemished ball. After nearly six decades of careful preservation it survives as a marvel of condition and aesthetics. Includes a full LOA from PSA/DNA (Graded NM-MT+ 8.5). It is worth noting that the other PSA/DNA 8.5 Foxx single was sold in our (SCP/Sothebys) June 2005 auction for $44400.
