Known as the Philly Blizzard the 1948 NFL Championship between the Eagles and Chicago Cardinals was played during a significant snowstorm in Philadelphia. Commissioner Bert Bell (former Eagles owner) consideredpostponing the game at Shibe Park due to 4" of snowfall but it went on as planned with a half-hour delay. The grounds crew needed the help of players from both teams to get the tarp off the field. In a rematch of the previous season's title game it was the Eagles who prevailed this time around with a 7-0 shutout in the harsh winter elements. There were just five completions in 23 attempts by both teams all day. Steve Van Buren's 5-yard TD run in the 4th quarter after a costly Cardinals fumble marked the only scoring play in the contest.
Graded VG 3 by PSA this $5.25 ticket stub to the '48 Championship has creases and fairly straight edges. The most noticeable blemish is its rounded bottom right corner with a light brown stain. This is one of two examples in the PSA registry and the only one good enough to warrant a grade; the other is just "Authentic."
