Fencing at the 1948 London Olympics featured seven events, six for the men (épée, foil and sabre) and one individual foil for the women. France, Hungary and Italy dominated for the men, taking 15 of the 21 medals awarded. This offered "XIVth Olympiad" armband was used by a fencing appeal judge at the 1948 London Games. These must be extremely scarce since we could not find one example ever sold or even listed publicly. "JURY D'APPEL" is French for Appeal Judge. The white and pink canvas armband with red and blue lettering is 11" long (28 cm) with a buckle strap that still works perfectly fine. EX-MT condition overall with light soiling and two small pinholes.
