In the spring of 1946, a 27-year-old Jackie Roosevelt Robinson made his debut with the Montreal Royals, thanks to the careful planning of Branch Rickey. This marked the beginning of Rickey's "Great Experiment," a groundbreaking initiative that aimed to integrate Major League Baseball and forever change the face of the game. Little did anyone know at the time that Robinson's historic breaking of the despicable "color line" would have ripple effects far beyond the baseball landscape, making it a moment of unparalleled significance in the early years of the Civil Rights movement.Among the many notable artifacts associated with Jackie Robinson's career, there is one particular item that stands out – his only true rookie card. This card holds a special place in the hearts of collectors, not only because it is a key entry in the landmark 1948 Leaf set, but also because it is considered one of the more elusive cards to find. What makes this rookie card exceptional is its outstanding color and image quality. Unlike many others, this specimen has managed to retain its vibrancy over the years, with only a small amount of the usual printing flaws typically seen on the blue Brooklyn Dodgers cap. Both the front and back of the card are remarkably clean, and the corners and edges are in excellent condition, deserving of its EX grade. The centering of the card is about 80/20 from top to bottom and 30/70 from left to right, as confirmed by its PSA EX 5 rating.
