When Jackie Robinson debuted with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, there was a huge demand for any biographical information about this remarkable history maker. Jackie made the decision to write his own story from his own perspective in his 1948 autobiography, "My Own Story." The book was an instant hit and remains an important first-person perspective on Robinson’s early years. Copies of "My Own Story" remain popular today, but this one rises above the pack by its being a signed first edition.
The original dust jacket shows the expected cover wear with edge wear and creasing present and has been further protected with a clear fitted book cover. The inside dust cover flap has been clipped diagonally on the top right corner. Jackie Robinson has signed the inside front cover in bold blue ink. It should be noted that we sold a signed copy (ungraded) with its dust jacket in lesser condition for $6,355 in 2016 and a PSA/DNA 8 also in lesser condition for $4,153 in 2019. This first edition signed example has been graded a perfect 10 by PSA/DNA.
