Behind the heroic pitching of Warren Spahn and Johnny Sain, the Boston Braves won their second and last National League pennant in Boston in 1948. The two pitchers recorded 39 of the team’s 91 wins, resulting in the Braves’ fans’ refrain of “Spahn and Sain and two days of rain.” Boston would fall to the Cleveland Indians in the World Series and would leave Beantown for good after the 1952 season. This stately pair of cufflinks, identical to the team’s 1948 World Series press pins, marks the Braves' final pennant-winning season in Boston. Each cufflink features the iconic Braves Indian with a full feather headdress, the script “Braves,” and a tomahawk below. The Sterling Silver brave is accented with bright red and white enamel highlights in the headdress. Crafted by Balfour, the reverse of each is stamped "LGB STERLING" and weighs six grams. The fastening devices on the backs are intact and function properly. Offered only to Boston Braves team executives and players, these cufflinks are considerably scarcer than a ring or press pin.
